Antitumor Activity of Etoposide, Puerarin, Galangin and Their Combinations in Neuroblastoma Cells

Neuroblastoma is a disease that observed in early childhood, originating from the sympathetic nervous system and very difficult to treat. Etoposide, topoisomerase 2 inhibitor, one of agents used cancer treatment. Galangin puerarin are plant-based antioxidants with anticancer properties. Since apoptosis induction methods treatment, evaluation mRNA expression levels apoptosis-related genes aimed our study. We investigated effects etoposide galangin/puerarin combination therapy on neuroblastoma astrocyte cells’ apoptotic process this IC50 dose was determined by MTT test healthy lines. Apoptosis-related gene expressions (topoisomerase 1 2α, BAX, p53, TNFα, BCL-2, caspase 3, IL-1, 9) were evaluated cells at IC50. It resulted all groups, lower than cell while an increase line, changes line did not cause apoptosis. Etoposide combinations antiproliferative effect decreased relative group. concluded single galangin may be promising treatment neuroblastoma.
